Learning Outcomes

  1. Distinguish among Singapore’s three main court buildings and what each court is responsible for;

  2. Explain key courtroom roles and terms (e.g., judge, prosecution, defence, bail, mitigation, sentencing) so participants can follow proceedings with confidence; and

  3. Summarise how Singapore’s justice system operates and why it is recognised internationally for its standards and reputation.

About the Trainer

May Hui

Licensed Tourist Guide & Trainer

Licensed by STB as a Tourist Guide in 1980 and the holder of a B.Sc (Hons) in International Tourism and Hospitality Management, May Hui has experience in various aspects of tour guiding.

Her passion in heritage led her to attend more specialised training programmes, and she is today a docent at the museums/galleries, including the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Former Ford Factory, Harmony in Diversity Gallery, Malay Heritage Centre, National Gallery Singapore and SCCCI Gallery.

May is also a volunteer guide at SCWO, for which she conducts “Walking in the Footsteps of our Foremothers”.

Since 2002, May has contributed her time at the prisons as a volunteer after-care officer, with the Singapore After-Care Association. Befriending ex-offenders to help them get on their feet, May has twice received the Outstanding Volunteer Award in recognition of exemplary service rendered.
