Learning Outcomes
Explain what a low-carbon tour means in practical guiding terms, especially in relation to local mobility, routing, pacing and visitor behaviour
Identify the main carbon-related pressure points within a guided tour, including transport hops, backtracking, waiting time, coach idling, disposables and poorly sequenced stops
Redesign a basic Singapore itinerary and communicate lower-carbon choices to visitors using practical checklists, route logic and simple digital tools

About the Trainer
Kevin Phun
Sustainable Tourism Specialist &
ACTA-Certified Adult Trainer
Kevin Phun is a sustainable tourism specialist, trainer, speaker, and writer with experience in responsible and sustainable tourism since 2008, supporting destinations and tourism businesses across Southeast Asia to strengthen sustainability practices, standards, and capacity.
He is engaged with several regional responsible tourism organisations and contributes to shaping policies, initiatives, and professional learning in the region. Recent work includes supporting the revision of the ASEAN Ecotourism Standard, collaborating with fellow board members at the Asian Ecotourism Network (AEN), and delivering UNWTO’s 17th High-Level Executive Training in Da Nang, Vietnam (November 2023).
His current work includes training tour operators based on the GSTC criteria, being the chair of the advisory council of Control Union Singapore, the certification body appointed by GSTC to be the global HQ for certification matters. Additionally, Kevin has been appointed by Green Destinations as Lead Independent Expert for Southeast Asia.
Kevin has delivered training and capacity-building for clients including the Royal Brunei Ministry of tourism, Mekong Institute (Thailand) and the Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS), among others.
